about

At the Iron Curtain [1961] – We are taken back to 1961, when the ongoing Cold War caused the building of the hated Berlin wall. This song also recalls the decade when rock music really came to stay, became heavier and heavier, and turned into an expression of youth protests and rebellions against the prevailing world order.

lyrics

AT THE IRON CURTAIN [1961]

music and lyrics: Armand Gutheim

Hey, don’t surrender
because of writings on the wall
Keep on being a love defender
even if this world will fall

bridge - - -
So what have you found
that goes on around
An insidious sound
that grows and rebounds

chorus - - -
But with sunshine
in your mind
everything will be fine
again!...

Hey, don’t surrender
when the splendor’s just a fake
Keep on looking through pretenders
and expose their evil stake

bridge - - -

chorus - - -

middle - - -
It’s a crazy world we’re living in
where we’re born to either lose or win
Everything’s about who is complete
and who manage to march on their feet

It’s a crazy world we have to face
where the violence seems to be the base
With a life that’s only black or white
it’s so easy to put up a fight

It’s a crazy world we all have made
but there’s hope if it begins to fade
When one day the iron curtain falls
will we maybe hear how heaven calls

Hey, don’t surrender
for the voice inside your ears
Keep on fighting all offenders
hiding deep inside your fears
